Everything was ready for me to sign for Barcelona [in 2019]. I had always told my father to wait a bit, but he said 'you're going to play with Messi, man'; I asked him to wait, it had to be Real Madrid," Rodrygo has said via Podpah podcast.
"Once I came home after a game... I had a Real Madrid jersey in my house, and my father came into the room with that shirt and another one of Barcelona and he said 'now, choose'. And I chose the Real Madrid one," the Brazilian added.
It is amazing to know that Rodrygo remained committed to the club of his dreams – even in spite of his parents' slight pressure.
Rodrygo scored 9 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 appearances for the Whites this season. The 21-year-old is expected to sign a new long-term deal with the club very soon.
