PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi acquitted for second time in FIFA trial over bribery charges

According to multiple top sources, including Sky Sports and ESPN, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser al-Khelaifi has been acquitted for the second time in a retrial of alleged wrongdoing linked with former FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke.

Al-Khelaifi has been cleared of all charges despite being accused of bribery and criminal mismanagement in awarding World Cup broadcast rights.

In addition to being the PSG president, Al-Khelaifi is now one of the most influential people in the game. He's the head of Qatari broadcaster beIN Media Group and a member of the World Cup host nation's government as well.

The five-year investigation charged Al-Khelaifi with incitement to commit aggravated criminal mismanagement. ESPN understands he allowed Jerome Valcke to use a vacation home rent-free which was owned by a Qatari company.

Valcke has been found guilty of bribery and other charges, for which he was removed from his post in 2015.

Interestingly, Al-Khelaifi is also part of the UEFA executive committee despite being involved in a Swiss criminal case.

His lawyers released the following statement after the verdict: "The years of baseless allegations, fictitious charges and constant smears have been proven to be completely and wholly unsubstantiated -- twice."
