Todd Boehly meets Ronaldo's agent, idea of move to Chelsea 'discussed' - The Athletic

According to The Athletic David Ornstein, a top transfer reporter, Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly met with football's 'super agent' Jorge Mendes in Portugal last week.

Mendes' empire has dozens, if not hundreds of clients, but Cristiano Ronaldo is the biggest one - and his situation was one of the topics of the meetings.

It's claimed that the idea of Ronaldo switching to Chelsea was 'discussed', presumably with Mendes initiating the conversation.

The 37-year-old's future at Man United could be in doubt after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League and appointed Erik ten Hag as the next manager. The Dutchman's high-intensity demands might not be suitable for Ronaldo's game.

Still, United's current plan is to keep Ronaldo at the club. The player himself has publicly insisted that his future lies at Old Trafford.

It's also not clear if Chelsea would want to pursue the deal. It looks like they were not the only club in such conversations, as Bayern were offered the chance to sign the Portuguese as well. It looks like they are not going to use it, though.
