'We chose a different option': PSG president makes major Zinedine Zidane announcement

In an interview with Le Parisien, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi has confirmed that Zinedine Zidane wouldn't become the club's new manager.

He said: "We chose a different option other than Zidane. We have chosen a manager who will be better for what we are trying to put together.

"I love Zidane but we've never spoken with him. Many clubs are interested in him, national teams as well — but not us."

Mauricio Pochettino's departure at PSG is expected to be made official in a matter of hours but Zidane's priority is to take over as France's head coach.

The Ligue 1 giants are likely to appoint Christophe Galtier as their new manager as soon as they reach an agreement to buy out his contract at Nice.
