'A Parisian boy who wants to make history': Ander Herrera defends Kylian Mbappe's decision to stay at PSG

Speaking to El Partidazo de COPE, Ander Herrera said: "Kylian Mbappe's decision is in line with what I thought would happen.

"If he had left, I would not have been surprised, but being the greatest footballer in the history of the club, the best scorer of all time, being able to obtain the long-awaited Champions League for him, it is a huge motivation.

"I understand the greatness of teams like Real Madrid but you have to respect a Parisian boy who wants to make history at his club."

Back in May, Mbappe put pen to paper on a new three-year contract at Paris Saint-Germain despite months of rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid on a free transfer.

It is widely believed that PSG's astronomical salary offer of €50 million-per-year (not including bonuses) convinced the Frenchman to snub a move to Spanish capital and stay in Paris.
