'People who work in jobs can't be late. You have to be professional': De Gea on need to change Man United culture

Reflecting on Manchester United's struggles over the past season, David De Gea told The Athletic: "We needed a better culture of football, of just thinking about football, nothing else.

"Of course, you cannot be late. People who work in their jobs, you cannot be late.

"So I think you cannot be late for training, we cannot be late for the meetings. That’s life, you have to be on time and professional."

The interviewer then asked De Gea if he feels some of his teammates have lost focus.

To which, the 31-year-old replied: "I don’t know. In general, if you want to perform properly, you have to be more focused at the top level."

Obviously, standards have dropped at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement back in 2013.

Players have lacked an authoritative figure both on and off the field but with Erik ten Hag in the mix, that appears to be changing.
