'Infinitely better than spunking £65m on Antony': Fans react as Ten Hag wants Hakim Ziyech at Man United

Erik ten Hag has requested the Manchester United board to sign Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea before the transfer window ends, reports French journalist Nabil Djellit.

Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Ziyech, who failed to work wonders at Stamford Bridge following a move from Ajax. So far, AC Milan have discussed a transfer with the club.

With Ajax demanding a cool €100 million to part ways with Antony, one of our main targets, Ten Hag believes signing Ziyech would be economical as well as effective.

However, board members at United are split over signing the 29-year-old, who only scored four times in the Premier League last season.

Don't let those numbers fool you - Ziyech thrived under Ten Hag during their time together at Ajax and could do that once again at United. Here's what fans think -

💬 CarlxUtd via Twitter: "Im all in for Hakim Ziyech at Man United by the way. Man was balling under Ten Hag at Ajax in UCL nights, moved to Chelsea and Tuchels system didn't suit him there to perform like at Ajax. Bring him in, quality left footed right winger, good alternative to Antony."

💬 Frank Grimes via RedCafe: "Not surprised to hear this. I think a deal for him is infinitely better than spunking £65m on Antony. Ajax might rue the day they got greedy with Antony. An ordinary season and he is a £25m player."

💬 Mwooyo via RedCafe: "Funnily enough, Ziyech is a much better and cheaper option when compared to Anthony. Despite what people calling Ziyech a flop think, Chelsea use Ziyech in the worst possible way. They give him the ball and expect him to beat 3 or 4 players before creating a chance. Basically, they think Ziyech is Hazard 2.0. Ziyech is very different to hazard, Ziyech makes chances through his crossing and passing....and only dribbles when he has to do so. Chelsea have misused Ziyechs attributes. What we should ask is, does he bring something different from what we have."

💬 Alex Turk via Twitter: "Imagine looking at United’s current attacking depth and saying ‘nah’ to a player of Hakim Ziyech’s quality on a cut-price deal. Sancho’s our starting RW. Ziyech would be an incredibly tidy backup option. Bring him back to Erik."

💬 Ghana Yesu via Twitter: "If Elanaga can be part of Manchester United team and even start games in there then Hakim Ziyech is allowed to join United as well. Bring the deal on!"
