'This is a very difficult time for me': Araujo opens up on surgery decision
"I want to make the reasons for my decision [to undergo surgery] clear in order to avoid speculation," Ronald Araujo has tweeted.
"I love my country. I love my team [Barcelona].
"After consulting with several professionals, we decided that surgery is the best option. Here it is not about 'choosing' one or another option. It is about health and getting back to 100% as soon as possible.
"This is a very difficult time for me personally. I take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support I am receiving.
"With faith and hard work, I will do my best to come back as quickly as possible. Hugs and blessings!
"I can do everything with Christ who strengthens me!"
Ronald Araujo will miss around two and a half months after opting to undergo surgery. He is likely to miss the World Cup.
