For the span of 9 minutes during the game between AC Milan and Chelsea, there were as many as seven English players on the pitch for the Blues.
Reece James, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ben Chilwell, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah were all playing together before Sterling was subbed off.
It's hard to remember the last time we had so many players of the same nationality playing in the same game for Chelsea. Interestingly all the players mentioned are homegrown, mostly in Chelsea Academy except for Chilwell and Sterling.
Ex-England international Rio Ferdinand hailed Chelsea gaffer, Graham Potter, for the notable achievement:
"Potter has seven young English players on the pitch which bodes well and all the right buttons are being pressed," Ferdinand said.
"Momentum is key and there is something in the crowd right now. It's a step in the right direction. There is a connection between players and fans again. The manager or captain may have seen something.
"The gulf in class between Italian and English football, it goes in cycles," Ferdinand added.
Chelsea swept aside AC Milan 3-0 to pick up their first victory of the Champions League campaign. Up next is the clash against Wolves.
