"At the Bernabeu, Madrid defended very well and it was difficult for us," Xavi has said in his press conference for Villarreal.
"We were not as comfortable as on other days because Madrid played very well.
"Sometimes we focus a lot on criticizing our team without thinking that there is an opponent who is also playing."
Barcelona have been struggling lately and have only won one of their last four games.
The 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid stoked the fire of criticism with some fans arguing that Xavi deserves the axe.
