Speaking after Real Madrid’s 3-2 loss to Rayo Vallecano, Carlo Ancelotti said: “We lacked determination of the rival, lost individual duels, could not get our play going.
“We have played too many games, same as most teams, we’re not as fresh as we were, we lacked the legs today. We faced many difficulties tonight, under every aspect. Our quality wasn't enough for this game.”
Ancelotti saw his side surrender a 2-1 lead and fail to match up with the hosts’ intensity and desire to win, resulting in their first loss of the La Liga season.
With the defeat, Madrid also failed to get back to the top of the table and are now 2 points behind league-leaders Barcelona.
