Morocco have ascended to the top of the rankings in African after their superlative performances at the World Cup in Qatar.
The Atlas Lions made history by finishing fourth at the just ended tournament, becoming the first team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
In the latest rankings released by FIFA on December 22, 2022, the 1976 African champions climbed to first spot in Africa and 11th in the World Cup.
Morocco enjoyed a fairytale ride at the World Cup, defeating favourites Belgium, Spain and Portugal en-route to finishing fourth.
Meanwhile, Senegal drop to second place after reaching the last 16 of the World Cup, losing to England in the second round.
Tunisia and Cameroon, who had four points from the World Cup sit third and fourth places respectively on the continent, 30th and 33rd globally.
Ghana, the lowest ranked nation at the World Cup, remain in eleventh position in Africa, and 58th in the World Cup.
Morocco's gains was significant as they moved from the 22nd position to the 11th after a month in Qatar.
