Barca seriously interested in signing Man City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan for free
Barcelona are seriously interested in signing Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to The Telegraph.
The Manchester City captain will become a free agent at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Bernardo Silva is the Man City player who has been heavily linked to Barca in the past as the hunt for a successor to Sergio Busquets continues. But the Portuguese midfielder is considered expensive and Gundogan provides a cheaper and more experienced alternative.
Gundogan is already 32 which means this is only a stop-gap option for Barca if they eventually sign him.
Nevertheless, Gundogan has featured in 25 matches for Man City scoring two goals plus two assists this season. He's only missed four matches for City so far.
