Benfica are serious about not letting Fernandez join Chelsea this January. They're trying hard to drive the Blues away by insisting he can only leave if his €120m buyout clause is paid. That is something Chelsea are unwilling to do.
"I'm confident Enzo stays," Benfica manager Roger Schmidt told the Benfica official website.
"When you see Enzo playing at the moment, I see a player who's on his top level, who's very happy to play for the club and I think there is nothing else in the mindset of the player.
"I don't expect that we lose any of our players who are playing a lot and in the starting XI. That's why I see very focused players and why I expect that [Enzo Fernandez] stays.
Reports claim the Blues have made two unsuccessful attempts to sign the World Cup winner.
