Atletico make Ceballos approach as clubs break non-aggression pact

Dani Ceballos's contract at Real Madrid expires at the end of the season meaning that he has been free to negotiate with other clubs since January 1.

According to Marca's highly-credible Jose Felix Diaz, one of the clubs that have gotten in contact with the midfielder has been Atletico Madrid. However, nothing is closed between the parties.

As a reminder, Atletico and Real Madrid had a non-aggression pact that stopped the clubs from signing players from each other but it was broken last summer.

Ceballos wants to continue at Real Madrid and is waiting for the club's offer. The Merengues have informed Dani that they are interested in extending his deal but negotiations are yet to begin.

At the same time, the club is clear that Ceballos is not a regular starter so they won't go out of their way to reach a new agreement.

Previously, the 26-year-old had rejected offers from Aston Villa and AC Milan because his intention is to continue in La Liga.

This term so far, Ceballos has played 21 matches (8 starts) for Madrid, scoring one goal and providing four assists.
