Quite difficult to rate the players after such a disastrous performance. We tried not to be too harsh.
Datro Fofana: 7. Showed pace and strength, carrying the ball well in transition. Was a big threat in the first half but taken off at half-time for some reason.
Sterling: 7. The livewire Chelsea needed so much, was a real difference-maker in the second half. Missed a lot of chances but can't really blame him for that as Southampton players put their bodies on the line to stop Raheem from scoring.
Havertz: 6.5. Losing his place in the starting XI to Datro Fofana, who had just arrived from Norway, has probably spurred him on a bit. Was brilliant after coming on, great link-up with Sterling as he should have had a couple of assists today.
Gallagher: 6.5. Came very close to scoring late in the game after showing great first touch inside the opposition's box but unlucky to have his effort saved.
Wesley Fofana: 6.5. Added solidity and composure after coming on, good with his passing too.
Madueke: 6.5. Very direct, provided the urgency Chelsea needed in the first half. A shadow of his first-half self after the break so was taken off.
Kepa: 6. Quite poor initially but made a great save on Armstrong in the second half.
Koulibaly: 6. Marshalled the defence well in the first half and prevented what looked like a certain goal very early on. Substituted at half-time.
Fernandez: 5.5. Crucial off-the-line clearance early on but not much influence after that. Chelsea are not really playing to his strengths but you'd still expect much more from a £105m player.
Felix: 5.5. A lot of effort but no end product.
Badiashile: 5. Quite shaky, his mistakes in the first half nearly led to goals. Improved after the break.
Azpilicueta: 4. Hopefully he's fine after getting bicycle-kicked in the face by a Soton player. But performance-wise, Azpi was poor today as his clumsy tackle resulted in the free-kick from which Ward-Prowse scored.
Kovacic: 4. Probably not 100% fit because there's no other way to explain why he didn't run as much as he does today. Chelsea lost the midfield battle and it was partly down to Kova's inefficiency.
Mudryk: 4. Good control of the ball, made a few dangerous runs through the left wing but was not as involved as he would have liked.
Chilwell: 3. Poor at the back, out of ideas up front. Not really an upgrade on Cucurella and that's saying something.
Mount: 0. No positive contributions at all.
