Man United picked up a gritty 2-1 win over Crystal Palace to get back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday.
In doing so, the Red Devils were also able to move above Newcastle United to reclaim the third spot.
The Magpies ended up playing out a 1-1 draw with West Ham United and have dropped down to fourth place.
With Arsenal losing too, the Red Devils are eight points behind the league leaders – having played a game extra.
