"I will sit with my agents and discuss": Osimhen speaks out on Man United transfer speculation

Erik ten Hag addressed some of the areas in urgent need of surgery at Manchester United last summer but one issue was untouched and the Reds are highly likely to invest in that department this summer.

United are lacking a potent forward and although Marcus Rashford has impressed with his eye-catching 27 goals so far this season, he remains the only constant goal threat.

Ten Hag will be keen to add that to the squad, with Wout Weghorst’s six-month loan unlikely to be made permanent when the arrangement expires this summer.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has taken Europe by storm this season as the Nigeria international is on course to help his side to the Serie A title.

Osimhen has been linked with a move to United this summer and earlier this month, he admitted that he dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Now, he has spoken out on a potential transfer this summer once more as he remains coy on the possibility of leaving Napoli, leaving all doors open.

“I don’t know what the future holds. At the end of the season, I will sit down with my agents and discuss. I will also be in talks with Napoli,” Osimhen told Sport1, via journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“I am incredibly grateful to Napoli. We’ll find a good solution together.”

SN’s verdict…

It’s no secret that United are in desperate need of a striker and it does seem like there are two main options – Osimhen or Harry Kane.

Osimhen’s age makes him a far more attractive prospect and it does feel like the ship has sailed with Kane. Furthermore, the thought of dealing with Daniel Levy would almost certainly put off Old Trafford officials.

Osimhen has two years remaining on his contract at Napoli and it would be fair to assume that they would be open to a sale or risk losing him for less 12 months later.
