Ben Foster Ecstatic as Wrexham Secures Promotion to League Two Says He's Finally 'Home' Again

After just seven games back at Wrexham, Ben Foster has already shared his opinion on the club, describing it as "special" following their promotion to League Two.

Ben Foster's decision to come out of retirement and play for National League Wrexham until the end of the season was not so long ago.

Although he had declined an opportunity to return to the Premier League after retiring last year, Ben Foster was content to make his comeback with Wrexham and return to the Racecourse Ground.

In 2005, Ben Foster played 17 games on loan for Wrexham, while he was a Manchester United player. He left such an impression on Sir Alex Ferguson that the legendary manager felt "robbed" when Foster left the club.

Initially, the signing of Ben Foster had caused excitement, particularly among neutrals eager to see his vlogs again. However, it almost went awry at the worst possible moment.

After making mistakes in a defeat to Halifax Town on Good Friday, Foster was criticized as an "eight-week PR stunt," which put Wrexham's promotion aspirations in jeopardy.

Despite the earlier criticism, Ben Foster quickly redeemed himself with fans and co-owner Ryan Reynolds by saving a last-minute penalty in Wrexham's victory over Notts County just a few days later.

Ben Foster continued his impressive run as the goalkeeper for Wrexham on Saturday night, helping the team secure promotion to the Football League with a win over Boreham Wood.

Despite his relatively short time at the club, Foster has developed a strong attachment to Wrexham. He recently told BT Sport, "It’s my seventh game right, and it’s like home already."

"Seriously, this club, this club is different I promise you. So that meant a lot that did, it’s really special."</

Asked if he had any regrets coming back, and why he did return, he emphatically answered, "Heck no! Heck no!

"I don’t think there’s anyone else I would have come to, to be fair. I’ve been here before, I know the club, I know how special it is and I know how much the fans love it. I know what it means to them.

"And like I say, those seven games I’ve just played, my god. Just look at them now, they’re bonkers, the noise they make, incredible."

Prior to the match, there was a festive atmosphere around the stadium, and it was apparent that the fans were eagerly anticipating Wrexham's promotion.

Despite the festive atmosphere and the high expectations, Wrexham's promotion hopes were momentarily dashed when Lee Ndlovu scored for Boreham Wood just 43 seconds into the match, lobbing the ball over Foster's head. However, the Wrexham fans continued to sing and support their team.

But Elliott Lee soon equalised, and the keeper never had any worries his side might not win. "I’m thinking, ‘Nah lads, that’s not the start you want,'" he joked.

"It was what it was, even then though I thought, ‘we’re going to be fine.’

"When we’re at home, and these fans get going, nobody, honestly nobody, can stand in our way.

"And I knew, just keep doing what we’re doing, and we got the goal back pretty quickly, and that was it, it was never in doubt after that."

Clearly Foster is smitten with the club and the fans, you can see why.
