Jordan Henderson faces backlash over defensive error leading to Nottingham Forest's goal

Liverpool fans heavily criticized Jordan Henderson for his instructions to Darwin Nunez, which ended up backfiring against Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool supporters haven't had as many reasons to celebrate this season as they did in virtually every other campaign under Jurgen Klopp's management at Anfield.

It appears that Klopp's "seven-year curse" has hit Liverpool this season, resulting in a trophyless finish and making it highly unlikely for them to secure a top-four position without a remarkable turnaround.

It's forced fans to even consider who they'd like to take over from Klopp, when the former Borussia Dortmund boss does eventually leave, with Xabi Alonso their current favourite.

The team was able to secure a victory on Saturday, which hindered Forest's chances of staying in the top division of English football for a second consecutive season.

Diogo Jota, who had recently scored his first goal in a while, netted another goal early in the second half to give the hosts the lead.

Neco Williams, a former Forest player, managed to equalize for his current team soon after, but Jota quickly scored again to put the hosts in front five minutes after Forest's goal.

Liverpool fans were particularly displeased with the second equalizer of the game when Jordan Henderson instructed Nunez to stop marking Morgan Gibbs-White, only for the forward to score shortly afterward while being completely unmarked.

Undoubtedly, there is a humorous aspect to the entire scenario, particularly when the team's captain glances around in frustration before realizing that the mistake was his own.

However, it should be noted that supporters of the Merseyside club did not find the incident quite as amusing as others did and were displeased with the Sunderland midfielder.

"Unbelievable from Henderson pushes Nunez off his opponent and is then left all alone. If I was Klopp I would’ve taken Henderson straight off for that," said one supporter.

"Then he has the audacity to look at Nunez like it’s his fault," added a second.

A third harshly stated, "Biggest clown to play for Liverpool."

Another joked, "He was left with enough space there to have some tea and biscuits. Awful stuff," although he probably had a point.

"HE'S GOTTA GO MAN WE'VE HAD ENOUGH," shouted a fourth, clearly angry, supporter.

Lately, the 32-year-old has faced censure from his team's supporters more than once. They were dissatisfied with his comments following their 4-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Moreover, the player has experienced conflicts with some of his Liverpool teammates, including an on-field altercation with goalkeeper Alisson. Nevertheless, Alisson has refuted any suggestions of a rift between them.
