Chelsea Midfielder Mateo Kovacic Set to Reunite with Former Boss Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic may leave the club during the upcoming summer, as per the reports from Dailymail. It is believed that Bayern Munich is showing interest in acquiring his services.

Even though Chelsea has seen considerable investment from Todd Boehly during his first full season in charge, they have had one of their most disappointing campaigns in recent memory.

As a result, the Croatia international, who has only started 15 Premier League matches, may be affected and considering leaving the club.

Once the transfer window opens, it is expected that several stars from the club will depart due to the pressure of complying with Financial Fair Play Regulations.

Sport1, a German publication, has reported that Kovacic is one of the players who are unhappy at the club, and there is a possibility that he may depart. It is speculated that Bayern Munich could be a potential destination for him.

Thomas Tuchel, the current manager of Bayern Munich, was previously in charge of Chelsea. He is reportedly interested in bolstering the team's midfield options in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Kovacic has been identified as a top target, especially if Ryan Gravenberch leaves the club.

Kovacic was instrumental in Chelsea's victory in the 2021 Champions League tournament under the guidance of Tuchel. He participated in every game of the competition until the quarter-final second leg, where a muscle injury prevented him from playing.

However, the 28-year-old managed to regain fitness in time for the final and made a late appearance as a substitute. Chelsea emerged victorious over Manchester City in Porto, thanks to a goal from Kai Havertz.

Having grown up in Austria and starting his football career at Austrian Bundesliga club LASK, the ex-Real Madrid player is also fluent in German.
