Christian Eriksen brands Man Utd star Marcel Sabitzer "unbelievable" ahead of Sevilla clash

Christian Eriksen has labelled Marcel Sabitzer "unbelievable" ahead of Manchester United's clash against Sevilla on Thursday.

Manchester United have landed in Spain ahead of their Europa League quarter-final against the six-time winners.

The first leg proved to be an eventful evening. The Red Devils looked to be cruising towards a comfortable victory after a quick-fire brace from Sabitzer.

However, own-goals from Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire got Sevilla back on level terms, with the second leg balanced firmly on a knife edge.

Eriksen praises Sabitzer

Eriksen accompanied Erik ten Hag for Manchester United's pre-match press conference in Seville, and was asked about Sabitzer's contributions to the side.

Eriksen, who has recently returned to fitness following an ankle injury he sustained back in January, took the opportunity to wax lyrical about his teammate.

"Marcel has done unbelievable while I have been away," said the 31-year-old.

"Everyone has done their job. The fewest sessions I have had have been with Marcel; he only arrived after I was injured."

Sabitzer arrived at Old Trafford on loan from Bayern Munich as last-minute cover for Eriksen, and has proved to be an astute piece of business.

Only time will tell whether the Austrian will extend his stay at the club, with both parties set for decisive talks in the summer.

However, it would seem Sabitzer isn't against the idea.

Lifting the lid on whether he would make his move permanent in the summer, Sabitzer said: "United made it clear that it was a project until the summer, then we’ll see.

"Until then, I want to give everything here. It’s a loan deal without an option. In the summer, the situation will be evaluated.”

The former RB Leipzig man also opened up on Bayern's appointment of former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

“I haven’t had contact with him yet [Tuchel], but I have a high opinion of him as a coach," added Sabitzer.

"He’s extremely meticulous and thinks all day about his game plan and training content. In addition he plays attractive football. He’s a top coach.”
