Wrexham Secures Football League Return with 3-1 Victory Over Borehamwood, Clinches Top Spot in National League.

 Borehamwood, despite being in the playoff race, scored first just 40 seconds into the match, defying Wrexham's plan.

Lee Ndlovu skillfully chipped the ball over Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster, capitalizing on a bouncing ball and giving the hosts an early lead.

After only 14 minutes, Elliott Lee equalized for the home team by heading the ball into the net, taking advantage of an unmarked position in the six-yard box following a well-placed cross from the right.

In the 52nd minute, Paul Mullin came up with a special moment, cutting back from the left wing to smash the ball beyond the Borehamwood keeper and into the back of the goal.

Mullin then doubled the advantage in the 70th minute, getting on the end of a long ball, sizing up the defender one-on-one, and unleashing his shot into the back of the goal.

 The Welsh side have become a huge story in football thanks to the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney over the past couple of years.

Last season the team messed up in the play-offs, meaning they had to spend a 15th season in non-league, since being relegated from League Two in 2008.

Interest in their attempts to get promoted has only ramped up in recent weeks, thanks to the signing of Ben Foster, and the impact he had on Easter Bank Holiday.

The side hosted promotion rivals Notts County at home on Easter Monday, with both teams level with 100 points, miles ahead of anyone else.

After a back and forth contest, Phil Parkinson's team led 3-2 with just moments left, when they gave away a penalty, and the perfect chance for County to equalise.

However, Foster was equal to it and earned his side a huge win, although it did look like it should have been re-taken, with the former Watford goalkeeper appearing off his line before it was taken.

Wins over Yeovil Town and Borehamwood in the past week, with Paul Rudd in the crowd for the latter, have now seen them mathematically uncatchable to their rivals, who will now head into the play-offs.

It seems ridiculous that a team with over 100 points could end up failing to secure a spot in League Two, something Reynolds has spoken out about.

The players will now be in for a 'monster' party, hosted by their Hollywood owners, after Foster revealed that's what they'd been promised.

Promotion back into the Football League will also see them earn a boost in television revenue, especially as they're likely to be a big draw for Sky Sports to show their games.

They will be hoping to follow the example of Stockport County, who beat them to promotion last season, with the team from the north west of England close to a second promotion in-a-row.
