Video shows Jose Mourinho exchanging heated words with Feyenoord manager Arne Slot following Europa League quarter-final victory

Roma overcame their Dutch opponents 4-1 after extra time, reversing a 1-0 first-leg deficit from the Netherlands.

Mourinho was seen fully enjoying himself in the aftermath, even rubbing salt into the wounds of journalists from Holland, giving one a Europa Conference League keyring referencing Roma’s win against Feyenoord in last season’s final.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss was sure to punish his opposing manager too, with reports emerging that he shouted ‘respect’ at Slot post-match after the Dutchman refused to shake his hand.

However, new footage has emerged showing that he went much further, saying: “You watch Napoli but you should watch us.

“You should watch us, not Napoli, not Napoli.”

One of his assistants is then heard adding: “If this is how you play, you should go home quickly.”

Mourinho then ends with: “Respect, respect.”

The Portuguese boss’ attack referenced comments from Slot pre-match in which he said: “Their style of football achieves results, but I prefer to watch Manchester City and Napoli. I’m very honest on that.”

And Mourinho commented on it to the press soon after, saying: “I was just telling him that instead of watching Napoli and Man City he should watch Roma because he didn’t study Roma well enough.”

Despite the incredibly heated exchange, there was at least some respect in the aftermath, even if it wasn’t face-to-face.

“He apparently never heard that I also have a lot of respect for him as a trainer,” Slot said. “He wins an incredible amount of trophies.”

Mourinho later said: “They have good players and a good coach.

“They are deserved [Eredivisie] champions and they fought hard against us. It was two great matches. They made it very difficult for us.”
