Erik ten Hag 'ready to sell Man Utd striker Anthony Martial' as Mason Greenwood investigation continues

According to reports, Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is planning a significant revamp of his team during the upcoming summer transfer window. In his first season at the club, Ten Hag has already led United to significant progress, resulting in their triumph in the Carabao Cup - their first major trophy in six years.

Manchester United are currently on track to secure a top-four position in the Premier League and have also advanced to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Their upcoming match on Sunday will see them face Brighton in this stage of the competition.

Unfortunately, Manchester United's aspirations of achieving a treble were shattered on Thursday evening when they suffered a devastating loss against Sevilla in the Europa League. In the second leg of their quarter-final match held in Spain, United were defeated 3-0, resulting in a 5-2 aggregate loss.

Several reports have surfaced following the defeat, suggesting that Erik ten Hag is considering a significant overhaul of his team during the summer transfer window.

The Guardian has reported that up to 15 senior players at Manchester United could be in danger of being either sold or released.

Reportedly, some of the players who could be included in the overhaul are club captain Harry Maguire, striker Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Victor Lindelof, Scott McTominay, and Fred. Additionally, there are rumors that Donny van de Beek and Anthony Elanga could also be sold, while Dean Henderson could be another player at risk. It is worth noting that Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Mason Greenwood Man United future

If Anthony Martial were to be sold, it would leave Manchester United with only one senior striker available, Marcus Rashford. It is expected that loanee Wout Weghorst will return to his parent club Burnley at the end of the season, further depleting United's striking options.

At this time, there is no decision regarding Mason Greenwood, as he is still suspended while the club investigates his behavior.

Greenwood was arrested at his home in January 2022 after allegations against the footballer were posted on social media.

He was later charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive control and was due to stand trial in November before all charges against him were dropped after key witnesses withdrew their involvement in the case and new material came to light during a police investigation.

United are yet to decide whether Greenwood will be allowed to resume his career at Old Trafford.

The Guardian claim that United staff are split over whether Greenwood should be welcomed back despite the charges against him being dropped.

While a 'substantial proportion of the workforce would be deeply unhappy if Greenwood played for the club again', it is claimed that 'others feel a duty of care towards the player' who denied the charges against him and has not been found guilty of any crime.

The Athletic claim United have rejected offers from Turkish sides for Greenwood, with Fenerbahce believed to be one of the clubs interested in signing the forward.

Relevo claim that Italian giants AC Milan are also considering a move for the striker, should he be released or sold by United.
