According to a report from Sportbible, it is expected that Arsenal's young talent Charlie Patino will leave the club on a permanent basis during this summer.
During his loan spell at Blackpool this season, 19-year-old Charlie Patino demonstrated impressive performances, despite the club's relegation from the Championship.
Throughout his time with the team, Patino contributed to six goals, making a total of 33 appearances under the guidance of manager Stephen Dobbie.
Although the midfielder is projected to return to the Emirates Stadium after the conclusion of the season, he may not stay for an extended period of time.
This is due to the fact that the teenager is determined to acquire first-team playing experience, which may be difficult to achieve given Arsenal's current squad configuration.
Despite Arsenal's decision to extend Patino's contract until 2025, the chances of him featuring in the first team next season are slim. This is particularly true considering Mikel Arteta's expressed intent to improve the club's central midfield during the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic, like their on-loan striker Folarin Balogun, Charlie Patino would prefer to join a new club instead of being sent out on loan again.
The Athletic report suggests that discussions have occurred between the player and the club, with both sides willing to aid in arranging a transfer deal, as there has been increasing interest from domestic and foreign clubs.
Charlie Patino joined Arsenal's academy when he was 11 years old and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2020. Despite this, he has only made two appearances for the team.
Arsenal's Champions League status could also limit his chances, with the likes of Declan Rice rumoured with a move to the Emirates - subsequently blocking Patino's route to the team.
It would seem a shame to lose a player so connected with the club, while he appears to tick many of the boxes Arteta is after in the transfer market.
However, Patino looks to have made his mind up, and could move on for pastures new in the summer.
