Barcelona stick €80m price tag on defender who is 'open to departure'

Barcelona are not happy with Jules Kounde's wish to leave at the end of the season. As a result, the board will only let the defender leave for 80 million euros, according to 'Sport'.

Barcelona defender Jules Kounde is considering leaving the Catalan side at the end of the season. 'Relevo' reports that the 24-year-old has told the board to listen to offers for him in the next transfer window.

His departure would be a setback for Xavi Hernandez, who asked to sign the former Sevilla player in the last summer transfer window.

But the 24-year-old does not feel comfortable playing in the right-back position and he wants to play as a centre-back but knows he has little chance at Barcelona.

"I spoke with Kounde and I was clear with him. I know there are a lot of rumours but the player left the meeting happy and same for me. There are no problems. The conversation has been clear, no problem and no issues," Xavi told reporters on Tuesday.

According to 'Sport', the Catalan giants will only let the Frenchman leave for an offer of 80 million euros. No club have made any bids for the France international so far. Chelsea were targeting him last summer but have not shown any further interest.
