Chelsea’s Mason Mount Leaves Pitch in Tears Ahead of potential Chelsea exit

Chelsea star Mason Mount cut an emotional figure at the end of what could have been his final game for the club.

The 24-year-old looks set for a summer departure from the Blues in the summer transfer window.

Mount rose through the ranks at Chelsea’s successful Cobham academy, making his first-team debut in 2019.

He has played key roles in the club’s recent trophy triumphs, including an assist in their 2021 Champions League final win.

But having failed to agree a new deal at Stamford Bridge, he could be on his way out of the exit door in the coming weeks.

Chelsea’s final game of the season saw them host Newcastle, with Mount out of the squad due to his pelvic injury.

The Blues stars applauded their fans around the pitch at Stamford Bridge following the 1-1 draw.

In a video posted on Twitter, Mount appeared emotional when making his way back to the tunnel, with Ben Chilwell putting his arm around his shoulder in support.

With all the fans out the stadium, another video from the Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella showed him taking in Stamford Bridge for what could be the final time at the club.

The England international’s potential final appearance in a Chelsea shirt came off the bench in their 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.

talkSPORT understands that Manchester United have joined Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign him.

Chelsea’s incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen for him to stay but it could be a case of too little, too late.

Mount has ended the season with just three goals and six assists to his name, a far cry from his 29 goal contributions last season.

His efforts are reflective of the Blues’ overall performance this season as they finished 12th in the Premier League.

Pochettino undoubtedly has a talented squad at his disposal for the new campaign.

However, it looks set to be one without Mount ahead of what could be a busy transfer window in west London.
