Harry Kane Surpasses Wayne Rooney to Claim Second Spot on Premier League Scoring Chart

Following his goal against Crystal Palace on Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur's forward Harry Kane has surpassed Wayne Rooney to become the second-highest scorer in the history of the Premier League.

Shortly before half-time in the match against Crystal Palace, Harry Kane scored an impressive header from a Pedro Porro cross.

Harry Kane's recent goal, his 28th in all competitions, has elevated his career total to 209 goals in the top tier of English football. Alan Shearer still retains the record with 260 goals which he scored in 441 appearances.

In February, Harry Kane surpassed Jimmy Greaves to become Tottenham's all-time top goal-scorer, and in March, he went on to break Wayne Rooney's record of 53 goals to become England's all-time leading scorer.

Harry Kane was handed his debut Premier League start in August 2012, in a match against Newcastle United. It wasn't until 2014, after establishing himself in the Spurs first team, that he scored his first top-flight goal in a 5-1 win over Sunderland.

This season, Harry Kane has scored 26 goals in the Premier League, which is his highest in the top tier since the 2017-18 season when he found the net 30 times (and scored 41 goals in all competitions).

Harry Kane has been awarded the Premier League Golden Boot three times (in the 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2020-21 seasons), and was also named Playmaker of the Season in 2020-21 for having the most assists.
