Man Utd Sends Scouts to Monitor Tammy Abraham as Erik Ten Hag Explores Alternatives to Harry Kane

Reports suggest that Manchester United has dispatched scouts to observe Roma's striker Tammy Abraham in action during the past weekend. The club is actively searching for a top-tier number nine to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo's contentious departure, with Wout Weghorst unable to make a significant impact.

Erik ten Hag, the current coach, has prioritized Tottenham's striker Harry Kane as his primary target, given the latter's contract expiring soon. Nevertheless, Manchester United is considering multiple alternatives, with Tammy Abraham being the latest addition to the ever-growing list of potential options.

The 25-year-old has impressed since joining Roma in the summer of 2021 from Chelsea, most recently scoring in the Serie A giants' 1-1 draw against AC Milan on Saturday.

Old Trafford scouts were in attendance for Roma's draw on the weekend, as Ten Hag weighs up a summer move for the Englishman.

Indeed, Italian news outlet Gazetta claim that their presence is 'nothing new', stating that 'United scouts have been spotted several times in the Monte Mario stand'.

The report adds: 'On each occasion - the reason for the presence of the English scouts has never changed: to view and evaluate Abraham's performances.'

While Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be keeping tabs on the number nine.

However, much like Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Kane, Abraham is unlikely to come cheap this summer.

Chelsea inserted an €80million (£70m) buyback clause in his contract which would allow the Blues to bring him back to west London this summer.

But even if they turn down the offer, Roma are required to inform Chelsea of any bids they receive for Abraham. While the Italian club are likely to demand in excess of £70m for the striker.
