Non League team celebrate title with open top bus parade in scaffolding lorry

Innovative celebration ideas were implemented by Dawley Town, a Non league team, to commemorate their victory in the Shropshire County League Premier Division.

The team achieved an outstanding record of 76 points from 26 games, remaining undefeated throughout the season and only dropping points once.

Dawley Town finished the season 10 points ahead of their closest competitors, Ludlow, and earned promotion to step six in Non League.

The Shropshire outfit lifted the trophy at Doseley Road at the weekend following a 5-0 trouncing of Wem Town to cap off a stunning invincible season.

But the club then decided to throw quite the title party afterwards. Dawley put on an open top bus parade but didn't appear to have the budget or facilities to get such a vehicle.

Instead, the players jumped on a yellow scaffolding lorry (with WM Scaffold LTD written on) and paraded around the town centre with the trophy proudly held aloft.

There was even pyro and confetti onboard and the scenes looked brilliant, with images shared online showing players and the public lapping it up.

In 2019, Essex Sunday League side Duckpond FC splashed out £4,000 on an open top bus parade after finishing top of the Colchester and District Sunday League.

At the time they had been promoted three times and brought out the bus for every celebration. They won 15 out of 16 games and also lifted the Fowler Memorial Cup to cement their place as the best Sunday League side in their area.
