Wrexham accrued 111 points en route to the National League title and will now play in League Two for the first time since 2008 next term.

They already have a talented squad full of players who have played at a much higher level but Wrexham will need to bring in a few new additions to strengthen their side.

And according to the Daily Express, one player they have their eyes on Cheltenham Town striker Alfie May.

May hit 20 goals in League One in the 2022/23 season, finishing with a strike against Charlton Athletic on the final day of the campaign.

The former Doncaster Rovers man has 12 months left on his contract - with the option for a further year - but is a man in demand.

Championship sides Huddersfield, Millwall and Birmingham are all said to be interested in the 29-year-old, while Luton Town have also been keeping tabs along with a slew of other unnamed clubs.

Peterborough and Derby are monitoring the situation from League One, as well as League Two side Gillingham.

Wrexham have the finances to pay a sizeable transfer fee for May and will hope that their captain Ben Tozer can have a word.

Tozer played with May at Cheltenham before sealing a £200,000 switch to Wrexham and leading their promotion charge.

May, who came from Non-League before going professional in 2017, has a goal against Manchester City on his CV, having scored the opener in a FA Cup defeat at Whaddon Road.
