Sir Jim Ratcliffe submits final Man United bid — offer 'higher' than Sheikh Jassim's
Sir Jim Ratcliffe may have just about won the race to buy Manchester United.
As per the BBC, the British businessman's offer is significantly higher than that of Sheikh Jassim. This is despite the fact that Ratcliffe is not buying 100% of the club.
Ratcliffe is reportedly looking to own 51% of the club unlike Sheikh Jassim, who wanted to own Man United in its entirety.
The Qatari banker's bid ranges around £5 billion for the full club but Ratcliffe's bid is much higher in a relative sense.
The Glazers currently own 69% of Man United and Sir Jim's offer includes an option for them to retain a minority stake, despite the growing dissent against the unpopular American owners.
The BBC also reports that it's not unusual for bidders to submit bigger values for smaller stakes when compared to wanting to own complete control.
Now, it's up to the Glazers to take the next step in the takeover process.
