Ten Hag “aware” Weghorst wants permanent Man Utd move despite “just sh*t” admission
Erik ten Hag is “aware” Wout Weghorst is eager to move to Manchester United permanently in the summer.

The Telegraph claimed earlier this week that United are yet to open talks with Weghorst despite the player’s desire to stay at Old Trafford beyond this season.

United took over Besiktas’ season-long deal in January as Erik ten Hag wanted striker cover, and Weghorst went on to start United’s next 19 games.

However, having only scored twice in his time at Old Trafford, discussions have reportedly not started over a further deal for Weghorst.

Since January the Dutchman’s form for club and country has been below par, with the player having even labelled his display against Gibraltar in March as “just sh*t”.

As it stands the striker will return to his parent club Burnley in the summer, though he has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs. While Weghorst is under contract at Turf More, it is thought the newly promoted club would be open to allow him to leave again.

Man Utd could still sign Weghorst
Journalist Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT that United signing Weghorst permanently this summer is a possibility.

Indeed, Jones added that Ten Hag is aware the player, who is earning £120,000-a-week (Daily Star) at Old Trafford, wants to stay at United.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "You can see how much he has loved being part of all this, the way he celebrates big moments and the way he tries to build a rapport with fans at games. He’s been a very useful member of this side since [Cristiano] Ronaldo left and Ten Hag is more than aware of the fact he would love to stay.

"Burnley will speak to him at the end of the season and Weghorst will have to wait on United to approach again over the possibility of any new deal, but it is not impossible. I’ve spoken before about the fact United’s coaching staff love the fact [Marcus] Rashford has often been able to thrive from the left when Weghorst plays centrally.

"After he came into the club, Rashford went on a goal burst of six Premier League goals when Weghorst was up there with him and he has been helpful in cup competitions, too, as his positioning opens up spaces that Rashford can utilise.

"His goal output does not read well, but sometimes other parts of his game are forgotten because of it. If United decide to sign a big-name nine but also want another backup forward option for depth reasons, it actually would not surprise me if they looked at keeping him beyond this season."
