Cristiano Ronaldo risks Nike contract breach after wearing Adidas shin pads

Cristiano Ronaldo has risked a breach of contract with Nike after appearing to wear Adidas shin pads during his first pre-season appearance for Al Nassr.

The 38-year-old Portuguese star played the first 45 minutes of Al Nassr's 5-0 defeat to LaLiga side Celta Vigo on Monday, but he was seen wearing Adidas shin pads, despite being under contract with Nike.

Ronaldo has been sponsored by Nike since 2003, and he is reportedly one of the company's highest-paid athletes. The American sportswear giant is said to have paid him £147 million over a 10-year period.

It is unclear why Ronaldo was wearing Adidas shin pads, but it is possible that he simply forgot to change them after training. However, it is also possible that he deliberately wore them in order to promote Adidas.

If Ronaldo is found to have breached his contract with Nike, he could face legal action. The company could also terminate his sponsorship deal.

It remains to be seen whether Nike will take any action against Ronaldo. However, the incident has certainly raised eyebrows, and it is likely to be a talking point in the coming days.
