Luis Suarez to terminate contract with Gremio early, reportedly join Inter Miami
Luis Suarez has agreed to terminate his contract with Gremio in December 2023, a year before it was due to expire. The Uruguayan striker will become a free agent as a result and is reportedly being courted by Inter Miami.
Suarez joined Gremio in January 2023 and has made some impact in the Brazilian Serie A. He has scored just 11 goals in 24 appearances and has been linked with a move away from the club for several months.
Inter Miami have been one of the clubs most interested in signing Suarez, and are reportedly willing to offer him a two-year contract. The club is owned by David Beckham, who is a close friend of Suarez's.
If Suarez does join Inter Miami, he will be reunited with his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi. Messi joined Inter Miami in July 2023 and has scored 3 goals in 2 appearances so far this season.
The potential arrival of Suarez would be a major coup for Inter Miami and would give them one of the most formidable attacking duos in MLS. It remains to be seen whether the deal will go through, but Suarez's termination of his contract with Gremio is a significant step in the process.
