Chelsea eye USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams as alternative to Moises Caicedo
Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams as an alternative to Moises Caicedo.
The Blues have been heavily linked with Caicedo in recent months, but negotiations with Brighton have been slow-going. As a result, Chelsea are now looking at other options, and Adams is said to be one of their top targets.
Adams, 24, is a versatile midfielder who can play in a number of positions. He is strong defensively and has good passing and dribbling skills. He is also a USMNT international and has been capped 27 times.
Adams would be a good fit for Chelsea's midfield, which is currently lacking in depth. He would provide competition for the likes of Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic.
Chelsea are also said to be interested in signing Lesley Ugochukwu from French side Clermont Foot. The 19-year-old is a highly rated young midfielder who has been compared to Paul Pogba.
However, Ugochukwu is not seen as a direct replacement for Caicedo. He is more of a long-term project, and it is likely that he would be loaned out for experience next season.
Chelsea are still hoping to sign Caicedo, but they are also prepared to move on if necessary. Adams and Ugochukwu are two of the players who they are considering as alternatives.
