Liverpool player involved in ugly brawl vs Everton could return to side for Merseyside derby

Liverpool player who was involved in an ugly brawl against Everton could return to the side for the upcoming Merseyside Derby.

The Reds are set to take on Everton at Anfield next Saturday after the latest international break.

Ahead of the much-anticipated clash between two local rivals, Liverpool have been hit with a major injury concern.

Defender Andy Robertson was forced off with a suspected dislocated shoulder during Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Spain on Thursday night.

Robertson was left in serious pain after being landed on by Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon.

As Liverpool sweat over the severity of Robertson’s injury, the Scotsman is likely to be ruled out of the upcoming derby against the Toffees.

This means that back-up left-back, Kostas Tsimikas could be handed a start at Anfield next weekend.

During last season’s Merseyside Derby at Anfield, Tsimikas was in the middle of a brawl between the two sets of players.

After Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford barged into Robertson, the two sets of players began a heated altercation.

As things began to calm, Everton winger Demarai Gray felt a shove in his back, which was from a steward.

However, as Gray saw Tsimikas closest to him, he thought the Greek was the culprit and therefore gave the Liverpool substitute a shove.

Toffees midfielder Amadou Onana then joined in as Tsimikas defended himself before being dragged away by fitness coach Andreas Kornmayer.

Onana had to be stopped by three stewards as he chased after the Greek international.

The likes of Virgil van Dijk and Darwin Nunez were also involved but Tsimikas’ return to the bench brought things to an end.

Most notably, Everton defender Conor Coady escaped any punishment after being shown to have placed his hand on Robertson’s neck and repeatedly telling him to ‘f**k off’.
