Barcelona president reveals it would be irresponsible to quit with the La Liga returning in just five weeks.
"Resigning would be very easy but irresponsible. I have a responsibility towards this club, so I won't do it," Josep Maria Bartomeu has just told the assembled media.
He added: "I decided not to quit now because La Liga starts in 5 weeks."
The calls for Bartomeu to resign intensified after the infamous Champions League debacle against Bayern Munich last Friday.
On Monday, Barcelona confirmed that the presidential elections will now take place on the first matchday after March 15, 2021.
Regardless of the outcome, Bartomeu will continue until his mandate ends in July.
