The Blues' first bid was €20M off of Leverkusen's valuation of the generational midfielder.
The latest update in the agonizingly long Kai Havertz transfer saga comes from reliable reporter Fabrizio Romano, who says that Chelsea are confident of signing the German international.
However, the two clubs are still apart in their final valuation of the player - Chelsea's first bid was €20M off Bayer Leverkusen's asking price.
Chelsea will use add ons as part of the deal as they hope to reach a compromise.
Meetings are taking place and Romano says that the negotiations are a 'work in progress' right now.
Havertz is waiting for the two teams to reach an agreement and the Bundesliga club want to reach a deal before the end of August.
