Victor Font clarify his claim about Koeman's sacking if he becomes Barca president

Font still sees Xavi as his no.1 candidate to take over at Camp Nou.

Earlier this week he said that even if Koeman had a great debut season, Victor will sack him if he becomes president.

"I've read some headlines that have put words in my mouth. Some suggesting that even if he won the treble next season he wouldn't be my coach.

That sentence needs some context," presidential candidate Victor Font told Sport of his claim about Ronald Koeman's sacking for the 2020/21 season.

"We believe in a 10-year project at the club and it isn't built around just one name. The manager at Barca is a very important figure, yes, but that's only one piece in a much more complete and complex structure.

"For us to have the most success in those next 10 years, we need to implement a project from the vice president down to the U11 side. A solid structure."

Still, Font remains a big fan of the idea of appointing Xavi Hernandez as Barca's manager if he becomes the club's president.

"We would've looked at an interim solution. I wish, and I mean this from my heart, Koeman and Barca win the treble. I'm sure that Xavi, at the head of this project, would find a place for Koeman's talent too," he added.
