Bayern Munich makes Coutinho return official as Barca star bid farewell to the club

The Brazilian leaves the Bavarians after scoring 11 goals and winning the treble.

Bayern have just said goodbye to Philippe Coutinho via their official website.

Club's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge praised the Brazilian for his 'creativity' and 'excellent technique' while sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic described the midfielder as 'an outstanding player'.

It means that Coutinho is on his way back to Barcelona as the Bavarians confirmed some months ago they wouldn't trigger his €120m buyout clause.

The 28-year-old managed 11 goals and 9 assists in 38 matches for Bayern, also winning the treble during this run.

His future at Barca isn't certain yet Leo Messi's potential departure could benefit Coutinho.

The Brazilian wasn't used properly by Ernesto Valverde as he fares much better as a midfielder rather than as a winger.
