Former Celtic and Arsenal Striker: Tierney will be future Arsenal captain, 100 per cent'

The former Celtic and Arsenal man thinks the left-back is underappreciated in England but believe Kieran's record since joining the Gunners speaks for itself.

Future looks bright for the 23-year-old at the Emirates.

Former Arsenal and Celtic striker John Hartson holds Kieran Tierney in high regard.

"I think the Arsenal fans and a lot of people that are watching the English Premier League need to realise how good this kid is," the retired Wales international said on Talksport as cited by the Glasgow Times.

"He's an outstanding player, he gets forward, he's got an FA Cup winner's medal under his belt, a Community Shield medal.

"Initially he was injured and was in and out a little bit with his groin, he couldn't quite find his best form. But now that he's settled he's a future Arsenal captain for me, 100 per cent."

Kieran has been nothing short of brilliant after the resumption of the Premier League season back in June. He has played in each game since the restart, starting all but two, and has been a key cog in Mikel Arteta's new-look Arsenal.

The 23-year-old looks like a perfect fit for the boss' 3-4-3 system, in which the Scotsman is primarily deployed in the left wing-back role.

However, he has been used as a left centre-back as well, and his positional awareness helped the Gunners score against Liverpool and secure the Community Shield trophy.

While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently Arsenal's skipper, we previously analysed why the Isle of Man native is worthy of the captain's armband at the Emirates.

Tierney has established himself as one of the leaders in the dressing room and his consistent performances and humble attitude have won over the hearts of Gunners faithful.

The Tesco bag incident and the never-say-die mentality have firmly established KT as a fan favourite in North London, and we are looking forward to seeing more of him this season.
