Rio Ferdinand explains why he sees shades of Ruud van Nistelrooy in Greenwood

Ferdinand says that Greenwood ‘will be a beast’ because of his playing technique.

Rio loves how Mason’s finishing ability makes him remind of Van Nistelrooy.

Rio Ferdinand told BT Sport: “Look at him (Greenwood), he's growing as well. He's going to be a beast to go with the technique he's got, the understanding, his spatial awareness, he plays off both feet.

“I want to go and watch training. That's what he gets out of me. I want to go and watch his technique, him lashing balls into the back of the net.

“We talk about Ruud van Nistelrooy, it excites you when you see finishers that finish aggressively, but with precision. He has that in abundance.”

Mason Greenwood made his return for Man United against Istanbul Basaksehir after missing the last few league games due to some personal issues. The 19-year-old terrorized Basaksehir with his movement and finished a solid cameo with an assist to tee up Dan James’ goal towards the end to seal a 4-1 win for the Red Devils.
