Chelsea play Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, with a much rotated side expected.
Regardless, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the goalkeeper will not be playing.
He said: "Yes there will be some changes because we can give important minutes to guys who are missing them at the moment.
"Edou Mendy will not be fit. We hope to have him in individual training on Wednesday then group training on Thursday."
Kepa is most likely to retain his spot between the sticks but 3rd keeper Marcus Bettinelli could also make his first appearance after arriving in the summer.
