Premier League clubs vote against postponing festive fixtures

Premier League's festive fixtures later this month will proceed as planned despite the Covid-19 concerns, it has been officially confirmed.

On Monday, clubs voted against postponing more top-flight fixtures although the vote wasn't unanimous. However, 'the majority' of teams want to continue.

Manchester United have seen their last two Premier League fixtures (Brentford away and Brighton at home) postponed following a massive coronavirus outbreak at Old Trafford.

However, as things stand right now, the Red Devils will be back in action on Monday, December 27 with a trip to Newcastle United. The new dates for the postponed games will be announced in due course.

An official Premier League statement reads: "While recognising a number of clubs are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks and challenges, it is the league's collective intention to continue the current fixture schedule where safely possible."
