4 games in 14 days: Man United handed nightmare schedule after Chelsea progress to FA Cup final

Man United are all set to have an exhausting end to the season after their game against Chelsea was rescheduled after they progressed to the FA Cup final.

Thomas Tuchel’s side defeated Crystal Palace in the semi-finals and their visit to Old Trafford – which was originally supposed to be on 15 May – has been brought back.

Instead, United will now host the Blues on 28 April – creating a bit of a nightmare schedule for Ralf Rangnick’s side.

This means that the Red Devils’ next 3 games are against Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea in the Premier League - all to be played in a 9 day period.

Man United’s remaining Premier League games
19 April – Liverpool (A)

23 April – Arsenal (A)

28 April – Chelsea (H)

2 May – Brentford (H)

7 May – Brighton (A)

22 May – Crystal Palace (A)

Rangnick rates chances of United's injured players returning vs Liverpool - gives positive update on Varane

When asked about whether any of the five injured players that missed Man United’s 3-2 win over Norwich City will be available against Liverpool on Tuesday, Ralf Rangnick said: “I think probably with Raphael Varane.

“He’s the one who can hopefully come back for at least one of the next two games against Liverpool or Arsenal.

“With the others, I don’t see them coming back within the next couple of days.”

This means the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay, Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw are all likely to be unavailable against Liverpool.

Shaw is unlikely to feature at all this season due to complications after a surgery to remove the metal screws from his foot.

Rangnick will hope his fit players are able to mount a strong challenge against the title contenders and get a win, which can give a major boost to their top-4 chances.

'We shouldn't have to rely on Ronaldo': Rangnick expresses frustration after Man United’s win over Norwich

Speaking to Sky Sports after Man United’s 3-2 win over Norwich City, Ralf Rangnick said: “After we scored our second goal we should have made life easier for ourselves but we didn't.

“We lost our structure and weren't aggressive enough. It's about being clever and smart. All of a sudden it was 2-2 and David de Gea kept us in the game. But we definitely have to raise our play.

“It was highly important we won the goal but the way we played was not good enough. It is a question of intensity and physicality.

“Like against Tottenham, Ronaldo was very crucial. They weren't easy goals, it was just outstanding.

“We should not only rely on him. We played well at times but we sometimes slowed the game down and didn't make use of overlap situations on the wing. Defensively I was not happy at all.

“The results elsewhere were good. But it doesn't make sense to look to other results. We need to raise our game.It doesn't make sense to be interested in the other results, we have to take care of our own results.”

Rangnick doesn’t seem to be satisfied with how United performed despite their win.

The Red Devils played out a very open game and were lucky not to lose, being bailed out by David de Gea’s heroics and Cristiano Ronaldo’s hattrick to move closer to the Premier League top-4.
