'One of football's most wanted signings': Man United nearing move for Paul Mitchell

As per The Athletic, a tier-one source, Manchester United are nearing an agreement with Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell to move to Old Trafford as head of recruitment.

The same report goes on to describe Mitchell as 'one of football's most wanted signings', solely because of his ability to find raw talented gems.

Mitchell could leave Monaco this summer and Ralf Rangnick has personally endorsed the 40-year-old as a viable option.

Scouts Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout left United last week, leaving a void for Mitchell to fill at the top.

The former English footballer has worked with Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig - all clubs known for identifying and developing talent rather than just spending big bucks.

Incoming boss Erik ten Hag has asked for control on transfers but with an experienced eye like Mitchell working alongside, the Dutchman's job could get easier.
