Jordan Henderson criticised by fans for singing national anthem ahead of Brentford match

Liverpool fans express disappointment with Jordan Henderson for singing national anthem before Brentford match.

During the playing of the national anthem 'God Save The King' before Liverpool's Premier League game against Brentford, the majority of the Anfield crowd booed for the duration of the anthem.

Despite this, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who started on the bench, was seen singing the anthem amidst the chorus of boos.

Fans took to social media to show their discontent.

One said: “Jordan Henderson is a disgrace get him out the club now.”

Another tweeted: “Jordan Henderson should never play for Liverpool again.”

A third fan added: “That was the best boo I’ve ever seen also terminate Jordan Henderson’s contract with immediate effect @LFC.”

Someone else wrote: “Jordan Henderson, not my captain.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Jordan Henderson belting it out, Liverpool Captain, disgrace! Stand with your fans…”

When asked about the national anthem being played before the Brentford match, Klopp stated that his views aligned with the club's stance. He also added that he didn't feel qualified to have a fully-formed opinion on the matter.

“I'm from Germany, we don't have a King or a Queen. It is a nice thing to watch, all the weddings are massive in Germany. I'm pretty sure a lot of people in this country will enjoy the coronation, some will not really be interested and some will not like it. That's over the whole country and that's all I can say about it.”
