Donny van de Beek's agent opens up on midfielder's failed exit move

Image
Speaking to Dutch outlet Voetbal International, Donny van de Beek's agent Guido Albers explained: "Manchester United are holding everything back. "It's disappointing that United are not cooperating [for a transfer]." The agent adds that several clubs - especially Everton - were interested in signing the midfielder this summer but the club refused to let him leave. Having made only 19 league appearances last season, Donny is yet to make a single start in 2021/22. This is despite a promising pre-season show. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to make a decision about Van de Beek's future as it's unfair to keep him on the benches if he's not playing. Donny was recently excluded from the Netherlands' national squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers because of lack of game time.

The Catalans have already reached an agreement with the La Masia graduate over a five-year contract, it's said. However, RB Leipzig want €75m fixed and want it now. 'I'm the happiest kid in the world': Barca kid Gavi reacts to his debut

Image
"I'm very happy, the happiest kid in the world. From my childhood I have been dreaming of making my debut for the first team, and at Camp Nou. And I've been able to achieve it," Gavi said after the game against Getafe. "A thousand things went through my head. I was a bit nervous, of course. I tried to do my best and that's it. "I'm thinking of all the people who have helped me. Family, friends, coaches, La Masia and especially Sergi Mila, a coach who has helped me a lot through my career. I'm going to keep the shirt and hang it in my room." The game against Getafe became Gavi's first official appearance for Barcelona. The 17-year-old replaced injured Sergi Roberto and got to play over 15 minutes. It was enough for him to register 15 passes, one long ball, and one interception. The La Masia youngster also won two fouls.

Pochettino comments on Mbappe Transfer to Madrid aftermath of Reims win

Image
PSG gaffer Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the Kylian Mbappe saga in the aftermath of the 2-0 win against Reims. “Kylian MbappĆ© is our player, you know the football industry is full of rumours," Pochettino said to Prime Video Sport France. "Our president and sporting director have been clear. He is with us. I am very happy. "Kylian is one of the most important players in the world, he's a gift,” the Argentine gaffer added. Mbappe was the star of the show as he scored twice to help PSG defeat Reims 2-0 away from home. However, Mbappe may have played his final game for PSG.

Verratti, Marquinhos make solemn plea to Kylian after Reims masterclass

Image
"We want Mbappe to stay, that's obvious," Marco Verratti said to Prime Video when asked about Kylian Mbappe leaving PSG. "He is an excellent attacker and he scored two goals. He has proven his level for years," Verratti continued. People are waiting for his level to drop to criticize him. We expect a lot from him,” the Euro 2020 winner concluded. PSG defender Marquinhos was asked if Kylian will still be in Paris on Tuesday evening - the day the transfer window ends. “How can we know?, Marquinhos responded, almost harshly. "We don’t even try to ask him. He has his goals. We really want that. He stays. He showed today how important he is to us. “With his personality, his quality, it is sure that if he stays, he will help us a lot this season. We will let him and our leaders settle this question as best as possible. But we want him to stay,“ Marquinhos added. Mbappe was the star of the show in the 2-0 win against Reims. It was not the best performance on the n...

Ex Barcelona star Messi gets superstar treatment on PSG debut

Image
It looks like not only the Paris Saint-Germain fans but the whole country of France has been dying to see Leo Messi debut for his new club. The reception the former Barcelona captain received away against Reims was nothing short of incredible. First of all, when Messi left the bench to get prepared for his substitution, both the home and away fans started chanting Leo's name. The Argentine responded with a shy wave. The same happened during the match, as the crowd cheered every time the 34-year-old got on the ball. After the match — which is perhaps the most surreal — Reims' goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic brought his baby son to take a picture of him with Leo. Afterwards, Mitchell van Bergen approached Messi to have a little chat. As the forward approached the tunnel to leave the pitch, he bumped into ex-teammate Thierry Henry. Finally, the Reims fans asked the Argentina international to sign a huge banner with his name on it. Only then was Messi able to leave the pitch. Here'...

Koeman sheds light on Puig's future: The players know what I think, the club also know it

Image
Barcelona have played three matches this season so far, but Riqui Puig is yet to step on the pitch. Following the home clash against Getafe, Ronald Koeman was asked to comment on the 22-year-old's situation. "It is not good to give names. The players know what I think, the club also know it. That is enough," the coach said. "There are several players who will have few opportunities to play, more so when we recover injured players. The situation is complicated, the important thing is to have a future in the place where you are." With Pedri on vacation, Koeman chose Sergi Roberto to start in midfield. In the second half, the Dutchman brought on Barcelona B's Gavi and Nico Gonzalez while Puig remained on the bench for the third straight match.

Verratti Reacts to having Messi as a teammate:'I didn't believe it'

Image
“To have Messi here is incredible,” Marco Verratii told La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t PSG Fans). “I didn’t believe it until I saw him. We already knew each other. He may not speak much, but for me, he’s the best in history. He's technical, selfless. "I don’t think he will have a hard time finding a starting position. The recruiting campaign has been incredible,” Verratti added. The Italian midfielder could play his first game alongside Messi when PSG clash against Reims in Ligue 1 on Sunday, if Mauricio Pochettino fields the Argentinean. As it has been confirmed earlier, Messi wasn't included in the starting line-up but he may feature as a sub, for sure.

Ruben Neves not happy with Pogba foul: 'I showed my leg to the ref, I can't say anything more'

Image
"Everyone saw it, everyone saw my leg, we always do meetings and everything with referees about VAR, I don’t know why," ranted Ruben Neves during his post-match interview. "They said before the season started they will look for contact – if the contact is strong enough, they will give the foul. I think maybe because last game it was a foul before the Southampton goal [Bruno Fernandes not getting the decision], maybe now they did the opposite. "I showed my leg to the ref, I showed to the assistant ref, I cannot say anything more." The Wolves midfielder added: "After the game he [Mike Dean] said ‘you both go to the ball’ and I said ‘yes, we both go to win the ball but I was the one who touched the ball’. It’s a foul, a clear foul." Paul Pogba, however, has denied making any contact with Neves during the bust-up on field. It was a scrappy win for Manchester United but ultimately, it's only the three points that count.

Koeman: Getafe win is a sign of improvement compared to last season

Image
"It is normal to suffer in football. You cannot always be at your level and today has not been like against Real Sociedad. Last year there were several games like today in which we lost points in the second half and today it has not happened. That is very important," Ronald Koeman said after the 2-1 home win against Getafe. "We're very happy with the three points. We have known how to suffer because our game with the ball in the second half hasn't been good, and it is great to know how to suffer and play to win the game. "We must highlight the attitude and the work we have put in, in order to win the game. I am very happy with the team. In the second half, we were able to play better but we also have to take the rival into account." In the three league matches this term so far, Barcelona have recorded two wins and a draw. Some of the players will now leave for their national teams with the World Cup qualifiers up ahead. After the international break, th...

The club informs that Roberto suffered a fractured rib. The recovery time is not specified, but Diario AS journalist Javi Miguel claims that the midfielder is expected to be sidelined for two weeks. As for Braithwaite, he suffers from knee discomfort. His time out isn't specified either, but Barca say they will contact the Denmark national team to discuss Martin's condition ahead of the international break. Both Roberto and Braithwaite have recorded two goals in three matches for Blaugrana this term.

Ronaldo to become 'highest paid-player' in Premier League history

Image
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to become the highest-paid player in Premier League history after completing his move to Man United, according to The Telegraph. The Portuguese star is said to be set to earn in the excess of the £560,000-a-week that Alexis Sanchez used to earn at Old Trafford. However, this includes the money for his ‘image rights’ as well as bonuses. Ronaldo’s wages will, however, be substantially lower than the reported £1m-a-week Lionel Messi earns at PSG. That being said, the Daily Mail claims that Cristiano took a pay cut in order to join United and his basic salary will be around £380,000-a-week, as compared to £500,000-a-week which he got at Juventus.

Image
Kylian Mbappe feels he's being kept at PSG against his own will, as per Sky Sports. Real Madrid offered €170m plus €10m for the French superstar but no official response from the Parisians followed. Mbappe believes that PSG promised to sell him for €180m, it is said. If the Parisians turn down the offer or keep ignoring it, Real Madrid will sign the player on a pre-contract agreement in January. The 22-year-old will join the club for free next summer then.

Edinson Cavani to keep Manchester United no.7 shirt despite Ronaldo's arrival

Image
Edinson Cavani will be keeping the no.7 shirt at Man United this season, as per club insider Jonathan Shrager. There has been a lot of speculation around what will happen with the iconic jersey ever since Cristiano Ronaldo’s return was confirmed. However, Premier League rules mean that players once registered into a squad cannot change their shirts unless they’re sold or the club gets special permission from the league. The Red Devils are unlikely to be granted special permission and with Anthony Martial donning the no.9 shirt, Cristiano might have to play with a different shirt number for the first time in a long time. Cavani will not be leaving Old Trafford this season and wishes to fulfill his contract until 2022.

Azpi's reacts to Chelsea draw with Liverpool: 'We actually had the better chances'

Image
Chelsea put in a stellar display of defending, especially in the second half against Liverpool with 10 men and Azpilicueta has spoken about how important a performance it was. "We had to fight," said Azpi to chelseafc.com. "When you are one man down for the whole second half, it is really tough but it was a challenge for us. "Everybody had the ambition to go even for a win and we actually had the best two chances in the second half even though they had a lot of possession. "The team spirit was brilliant from everybody, we fought together and we got the least reward of a point. "‘Of course we were angry and everyone had emotions at half-time but we had to adapt. It was important for us to calm down and find a way to fight together as a team, to have this challenge in a tough place like Anfield. "Everybody defended really well, right from Romelu who had a game where he had to sacrifice for the team. We had to make two changes at half-time and had one re...

Leaked audio reveals Ronaldo's conversation before Old Trafford return

Image
Before sealing a return to Man United, Cristiano Ronaldo’s conversation that took place on Friday with a friend has leaked. He said: “Palhinhas what's up? My situation will be done today this afternoon, tonight, or tomorrow morning at the latest. “Either Manchester United or Manchester City, both are fighting to sign me and it's going to be closed. “I heard Nacional are in a tough situation, would you be interested in Bruno Alves? I think he would be an asset with his experience and quality despite his age. “He was at Parma and signed with FamalicĆ£o but fell out with the manager and terminated his contract. Do you think he's a valid option? I think he is. Talk to the manager or someone at the club, he's a free agent at the moment.” Palhinhas is someone close to Portuguese side C.D Nacional, which currently plays in Portugal’s second division. It looks like Ronaldo was sure about a return to Manchester but not sure about which side he’ll join until later in Friday aftern...

Detailed Analysis on Tuchel's formation against Liverpool

Image
Formation Chelsea lined up in the 3-4-3 formation that we have come to expect from Thomas Tuchel's side and it paid off quite well. Havertz and Mount were chosen to play off of Lukaku while Marcos Alonso and Reece James were to provide the width. Azpilicueta played as a centre-back and out of possession, Chelsea were able to stifle Liverpool well. Takeaways Peak adaptability: Chelsea were dealt a massive blow when Reece James was sent off just before half-time and the Blues needed to adapt. On cam Thiago Silva for Kai Havertz, with Azpilicueta being pushed to right wingback and Lukaku, Alonso and Mount being tasked with pressing and trying to make something happen if they could. The team adapted to adversity in phenomenal fashion, stifling Liverpool through the middle and limiting them to long shots that were saved well by Edouard Mendy. A huge testament to Chelsea's improved defence. Roving double pivot: Before N'Golo Kante had to go off with his ankle issue, Chelsea's...

If PSG refuses to bend regarding Mbappe, Madrid could take a step back and attempt to sign the player for free starting from January.

Chelsea fans blame Anthony Taylor for the draw against Liverpool

Image
Anthony Taylor has a long history of questionable calls in the Chelsea games, and after the Liverpool game, it's even longer. The referee from Greater Manchester needed just one look at the VAR monitor to see Reece James' handball. Somehow, however, he decided against booking Liverpool players for blatant tactical fouls - Fabinho alone committed around half a dozen of those. No wonder that the Chelsea fans are not too happy about Taylor's refereeing. Reddit Pauldortheoblivious: "Booked Mendy for kicking the ball as well when Salah did that out of frustration not 10 minutes earlier and nothing. Incompetent jagoff." chrisk2799: "One of the biggest games of the season, a massive decision, and he’s gone to look at the monitor for a second. Like what are you doing? Useless" IlluminatiGodCoder: "Not a single booking for a Liverpool player all game, yet basically doubled our foul count. How many fouls did Fabinho make? At least five." Twitter @AlexGol...

We have to be realistic with the situation of the club," Ronald Koeman has told the media. "Lots of expensive signings made by other clubs? These are crazy numbers in the current situation in the world. Some clubs have more problems than others but for me it's crazy," the Dutchman added. Meanwhile, clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid are set to spend hundreds of millions of euros on their summer signings.

Tuchel opens up on Hudson-Odoi's Chelsea future and England U21s snub

Image
Callum Hudson-Odoi seems to be back down the pecking order after Reece James has made the right wingback role firmly his own. Speaking about the winger, according to The Guardian, Thomas Tuchel said: “There’s always room for improvement here in training. “It’s hard to argue that he needs regular game time to improve his level. At the same time, it’s not only about letting players go. If we want to compete in all competitions, it’s also about numbers. “You need a squad of 20 to 21 players. I have the feeling that Callum decided to fight for his place here. He had a very good pre-season. The door is always open to sneak through. At the moment, there is no loan.” Hudson-Odoi has declined to go for international duty with the England U21s side and Tuchel also opined on that. “It’s his decision and nothing to do with my opinion or the club’s,” the German said. “If I speculate a little bit I think it’s about disappointment that he is not nominated for the first team, but at the same time may...

Image
When asked about the Cristiano Ronaldo saga that ended with a return to Old Trafford, Jurgen Klopp said in a press conference: "I watched it [Ronaldo story] like a football supporter, but I have no knowledge about it. "It's not about me to judge that, but if other clubs can do it, it's not a business for the future, [the next] three to four years, it's about now and immediately. "That's how some clubs are working and that's fine, but there must be different ways, clubs who look two or three years later and have success." The salty Liverpool boss went on to add: "It's not always with the best squad in the world, it's about developing as a squad and a club and that's what we have done. "We have resources and have been building for a while. I have no time to look at other clubs. I see the news, but I have no time to think about what they can do." Klopp can call it whatever he wants but signing Ronaldo addresses a lot of is...
